A specialized drilling team drills have found an underground aquifer under the village. Girls and women walk long distances for water when sometimes, safe water is right under their feet! Underground rivers, called aquifers, often contain a constant supply of water.
An aquifer is often described as a subsurface geologic formation that contains groundwater in sufficient quantities to be used, or have the potential to be used, for drinking water supply or for commercial, industrial or agricultural purposes. Groundwater is nearly always found when a well is drilled, although in some places there may be a very low rate of flow to the well.
